Description
I absolutely love Killer Instincts and when I saw Hisako I fell in love. This costume was a labor of love that I decided to finish for Megacon! It was nice to see other fans of KI react to seeing me in this costume! Honestly, it was a real treat!!
The costume I based off her official art. However, the base kimono was made of Linen to give it the same texture as the in game model presented the fabric. I used white Linen for the remainder of the kimono's pieces. I drafted the pattern myself off an older kimono I had made making modifications to fit Hisako's pattern. I made sure to finish all my seams and edges where necessary. I then took bleach and sprayed the bottom portion of the kimono to give it a granulated faded effect.
I made 14 individual fabric cherry blossom flowers with 5 individually patterned pieces and attached them to the kimono. I then did the best I could to hand paint the remaining flowers to fill the rest of the kimono.
Finally after finishing the perfect version of her kimono I went to town destroying it. I took both paint and flame to the fabric as well as cutting it to give it the "worn ghost" effect. I like how it turned out. <3
The bow on her back was made from brocade. I lined it in gold brocade and used stiff interfacing to help it keep it's shape. I also added a slight amount of polyfill to make it look "fuller" like hers.
Naginata:
Was made of wood, foam, cardboard, patience, and paint. <3 The fabric was then painted, cut, and burned to go with the effect of the costume.
